Apple Releases Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0

This update adds support to Mac OS X for the Magic Trackpad and is required for its use, and also enables inertial scrolling and the three-finger drag gesture in recent MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks.

Mac OS X 10.6.4 is required before installing this update.

Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 includes the required software to use Magic Trackpad. The update also installs the three-finger drag gesture and inertial scrolling for Mac portable computers, as listed below. This update also installs a Trackpad System Preferences pane for configuring Magic Trackpad on Intel-based Mac desktop computers that support Mac OS X v10.6.4 and above.

It’s important to run Software Update after you’ve successfully paired Magic Trackpad by clicking on the Apple () menu and choosing Software Update. Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 will appear in Software Update only after you install the the Mac OS X v10.6.4 update and after you pair your Magic Trackpad. You can pair Magic Trackpad by clicking the Bluetooth menu bar icon, choosing “Setup Bluetooth Device &” and completing the onscreen instructions using Bluetooth Setup Assistant.

If you have a supported Mac portable (as listed below) that has Mac OS X v10.6.4 installed, install this update by using Software Update or by downloading the manual update to add inertial scrolling and three-finger drag gesture support.
