There's definitely something in the air (sorry Apple) in the lead-up to Macworld 2008. One is a fog clouding everyone's minds--akin to a normal morning by the San Francisco Bay no matter what time of the year it is--blinding everyone to the plain fact that?
No one but Steve Jobs (not even employees of Apple, Inc.) really knows what Steve Jobs is going to say and reveal on Tuesday morning. The secret, and past company secrets, are more closely guarded than the President's "Book of Secrets"... if one ever did exist.
What does exist--the second something in the air--is what the next big thing will be! What Apple pulls out of its magic hat could be anything, leaving everyone's guess up in the... air.
(The only other big thing coming out this week is J.J. Abrams's long-awaited flick, "Cloverfield" coming out this Friday, and lines for that movie could rival that of Macworld's lines for Steve Jobs's keynote. And like Apple's secret, no one knows what the creature in that movie is as well. But just like people will try and say they know, no one but Abrams knows the answer!)
It's one full day away from Macworld and its official kick-off tomorrow with Apple CEO Steve Jobs's keynote address scheduled for 9:00a PST. Last year, we called it "Live from San Francisco, it's Breakfast with Steve Jobs" since anyone and everyone covering the event each year calls it the generic "Live Coverage of Macworld ____ [insert year]."
This year, we're calling it something else, instead of what we previously announced last week. Our coverage this year will be labeled, "Live from the City by the Bay, It's Apple's 'Super Tuesday.' "
Because like the real Super Tuesday in presidential election terms, the number of people that get behind the candidate--in this case, Steve Jobs--will determine whether the party (Apple, Inc.) gets our vote this year. (Like we'd vote for Dell or Microsoft anyway).
After a stunning year in 2007, probably the Cupertino, CA-based company's best and most successful year ever in its history, "Decision '08" will rely heavily on whether Apple, Inc. can meet or beat expectations based on its performance last year.
Apple will be hard-pressed this year to satisfy fans and non-fans alike (remember, 2007's iPhone was so big that people who never would have considered stepping foot into an Apple Store, or even touch/buy anything from the company, bought, in to it too), as the nay sayers believe the company has squeezed every last drop of juice out of its rise from the ashes.
So, what is rumored to be unveiled tomorrow by Apple's, super man, on "Super Tuesday"?
