Are you in the market for a sleek, stylish, no-nonsense sleeve case
for your PowerBook? Looking for an amply padded yet slim bag that will hold your
laptop, a few papers or magazines, and maybe a couple of cables, and not
much else? Want something that you can throw over your shoulder for a
quick trip to the cafe or throw into your messenger bag or briefcase for
longer journeys, secure in the knowledge that your PowerBook is safe and
sound? Look no further, for booq (http://www.booqbags.com)
has the answer.
The booq PowerSleeve15 is a fantastic case for your 15" PowerBook.
The booq PowerSleeve15 is a fantastic case for your friend's 14" or 15"
Windows laptop (should you dare to have friends who use Windows machines!).
The booq PowerSleeve15 is also the sibling of the PowerSleeve12, 16, and
17, which I can only guess are also fantastic laptop cases for -- you
guessed it -- 12", 16", and 17" laptops.
Made from tough, weather-resistant 1680D ballistic nylon, the PowerSleeve15 features a single, well-padded
inner sleeve that's just the right size for a TiBook and maybe a magazine or two. The top-loading
case is secured by a fold-over flap that buckles shut and also features a small, front-accessable zip pocket for
cables and other accessories. My hockey puck Apple power adapter squeezed into the front pocket,
but just barely. The back of the case houses another, larger zip pocket for documents and
magazines. The whole thing is finished in a very sharp black and grey color scheme with silver and
orange logos, and includes
a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap with a sliding pad. There's also a briefcase-style handle
on the top of the sleeve.
What's great about the PowerSleeve beyond its obvious aesthetic appeal is that it readily
doubles as a sleeve and stand-alone case. With the shoulder strap detached, the sleeve really
takes up very little room inside of a larger bag or briefcase. Snap the strap back on and
the bag hangs very nicely at your hip or on your back. I was particularly pleased to see the
top handle, as I'm susceptible to neck and shoulder pain when hauling around a shoulder bag
all day. Being able to carry one's bag by hand can really save those neck muscles, trust me.
The booq PowerSleeve 15 is highly recommended for 15" PowerBook owners, and sells for
$44.95 on the booq website. Other Sleeve
models (including the iSleeve for iBooks) range in price from $34.95 to $59.95 and are
also available on the site. booq also makes a full line of backpacks, messenger bags, and accessory
packs, including the previously reviewed PodPaq 014 and PodPaq Nappa for iPod.
