3Com Palm III Reader Feedback

March 26, 1999
by Stephen Hildreth
Editor-in-Chief

Judging by the amount of feedback to our Palm III review, most folks are happy with their Palms.

This from one power-palm user:

"I just read your article "3Com Palm III: The Ultimate Portable Computer?" Thanks for writing it. You may be surprised to learn that a keyboard accessory is available for the Palm <http://www.landware.com/products/gotype/gotypeps.html> and that some people have even written novels, stage plays, and short stories on the Palm. <http://www.geocities.com/~lunatic/pilot.htm> is one example. A great overview of word processing is available at <http://jimthompson.net/pilot/wordproc.htm>. Also, contrary to your statement (did I interpret it incorrectly?), a couple of spreadsheets are available as shareware Pocket MiniCalc and TinySheet, both available at <http://www.pilotgear.com>. A commercial one, Quicksheet, is also available at <http://www.cesinc.com/>."

From Marc Zeedar:

"Excellent article! I just got a Palm III last week. As the owner of a honkin' big PB G3, the Palm is a dream. The PB I rarely take anywhere except out-of-town trips or for use in different parts of the house. Since it's a full computer it's perfect for that, but it doesn't fit in my shirt pocket. (Neither does a Duo.) The Palm I take everywhere, and I'm finding delightful new uses for every day. (Even simple things like scheduling a TV show reminder are useful and really cool.) I used to be in the market for a used Duo -- no more. The Palm III and the PB G3 is an ideal combination. You can even Hotsync with infrared, so you don't need to drag cables around!"
