What could be worse than waking up and finding coal in your stockings on Christmas Day, a classic sign that you're on someone's (Santa's?) naughty list this year? Getting up in the morning to watch your loved one unwrap that new iPod classic you bought them--which you went through a lot of trouble to get--only to find a box of rocks inside. Which makes getting rocks in your socks not such a bad idea. Considering you'll be blacklisted by your loved one during every gift occasion in the upcoming year. Valentine's, birthday, etc.

I have long contended that Apple ‘Books are the “logical Mac” for most users, and it seems that the market increasingly agrees with me. Apple’s notebook sales passed desktop machines in volume more than four years ago and have opened up a commanding lead over desktop units in sales volume. Notebook sales overtaking desktops is a trend across the industry, but particularly so for Apple, and by early in 2006, notebooks accounted for about 60 percent of total Mac computer sales, although the introduction of the hot-selling aluminum iMac last summer, which spiked a 31 percent year-over-year growth in desktop systems sales drew that back to about a 50-50 split for a few months, but reportedly notebook sales are pulling ahead again, and last quarter figures reveal that Mac notebook sales are up a whopping 37 percent year-over-year, and represent 62 percent of Macs sold. Little Brother's Got Big Sound: Audioengine 2 Desktop Speakers Reviewed

Just over a year ago I had the pleasure of reviewing Audioengine's superlative A5 powered speaker system. At the time I said they bested Apple's iPod HiFi, Bose's SoundDock, and JBL's Radial for pure quality of sound and gave them a 4.5 out of 5 rating. My only real gripe with the A5s was their prohibitive size - while certainly not huge by powered speaker standards, the 5s are the size of your average mixing monitors, and thus too big for most desktop use. Lo and behold, Audioengine has solved the problem with their new A2 desktop speakers. At one third the size - and half the cost - of the A5s, the kid brother of the Audioengine family delivers great big sound in a little package. Read More...

Right now it's cool to bash people who compare other cell phones to the Apple iPhone. A few months ago every mid- to high-end handset being released was scrutinized under the "iPhone Killer?" moniker. Today folks still do it, but it's tacky - if you compare every new full-frontal touchscreen mobile to iPhone, you're either an Apple Fanboy, entirely lacking in imagination, or both. I don't think myself a Fanboy (I'm too hot/cold on Apple) or devoid of imagination (please), and I realize that just because the HTC Touch or LG Voyager was released months after iPhone that doesn't mean either of those companies ripped Apple's design off.
