"I'm in Dublin IRELAND..I Ordered my powerbook 17" 1.33Ghz on 22nd Sept, got it today Sep 30th. It is a beutifully packaged computer. It is the first time that I have purchased an Apple laptop. I have a DualG4 1.25Ghz with 22" Screen, but I'll take that into the office and keep the powerbook for home use. Apple promised it to be delivered on the 26th but then said 29th but it eventually arrived by TNT on the 30th, better late then never!! I am just getting used to the size of it..it is kinda wide. I am using it for video editing...It has 10.2.7 installed as well as classic environment. I am gonna reformat and put a clean OSX on it."
"I ordered my PB12 on 9/18. Original shipping was est. 9/29. Now postponed to 11/12!!! Apple should get serious. How can you sell machines if you dont have machines for sale?? I quit and I'm going to cancel the whole thing!"
"My edu order was supposed to ship "on or before" today (9/29) - well as of this afternoon it's been pushed back to 10/6. Sigh..."
"Placed an order through the Online Education store on 9/22 for a 1.25Ghz Powerbook w/5400rpm 80GB HD and 1 512MB chip (instead of the default 2x256s). Also paid the extra $18 for 2-day shipping. Slated to ship on or before today 9/29. But as of 4pm EST the shipping status has not changed. Also had a 20GB iPod and Airport Base Station with the order. ABS shipped from Taiwan on 9/23 and arrived today. iPod shipped on 9/25 from Shanghai and I'm hoping it'll show up tomorrow but more likely on Wednesday."
"Just received it after ordering it on 9/8/03 (the old model) then upgraded by Apple to the new model. It shipped from Taiwan last Thursday and made it to RI today."
"Ordered 12" PowerBook SuperDrive/512/60GB/Airport Extreme on 9/14. Apple upgraded order to new Powerbook with 768 Meg Ram. Original shippping date was 9/29. Now 10/3. Educational, individual order."
"I ordered my new 12" PowerBook on Monday, September 22 from the Apple store for education. Had an estimated shipping date of 10/1. I got a message on Friday, 9/26 that it had shipped and expected delivery date was Tues 9/30. Well, FedEx just rang my doorbell- new PB arrives 9/29, one week after I ordered it. Just starting to play with it."
"I mentioned (in an earlier posting) that Apple changed my shipping to Priority Overnite. Well, Saturday, I checked my order status and it was at 2 days. I called Apple and the rep. told me that their is no way it can ship priority overnite and that is why all orders were changed to 2 day."

PowerBook shipping reports for Monday, September 29th
Monday, September 29 2003 @ 9:30 AM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports continue to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"I just received my 12" PB this morning which shipped on 9/26 via FedEx priority overnight. Estimated receiving date was tomorrow, so others who had their PB shipped could be receiving them possibly today."
"I received my brand new 12¾ Powerbook yesterday. I picked it up at the local Apple Store in Emeryville. Its amazing! Better video card, DVI out, what more could I ask for? Its perfect! The local Apple Stores in the Bay Area all seem to have a few as of today."
"Friday night on the Apple Store for Ed. I made and saved an order for a 1.25 Powerbook and a 20 gig Ipod. I was going to submit it on Sat. morning on the 27th. The promo for buy a bundle save a bundle read "through September 27" Saturday morning I went to place the order and the promo was gone. I called Apple and they said it was pulled a day early and I wasn't the first to call them about this. However, they said no problem with still getting the 200$ off bundle deal and they even tried to get me to take the free printer (99$) rebate as well. Kewl! My ship WAIT says 10/2 for the Ipod and 10/8 on the ALPB."
"My 12.1/1GHZ/256/80/CMBO/ powerbook shipped this morning. As of right now it has left the FedEx Ramp at the C.K.S. INTl AIRPORT, TW. I can't wait for it to arrive, I ordered it Last Saturday, September 20th late in the evening."
"I ordered 2 x Powerbook 15¾ on the of 21th September. I paid by cashiers check on the 21th, it was received by Apple on the 22st. We are now at the night of the 26th, and Apple while confirming that they received the cashiers check on the 22nd, still have not even processed the order, never mind ¶opening¾ the order. At the moment, the earliest that the order will be open is the 29th, with the earliest shipping date being the 30th. I paid for the 2 day shipping, so at this point, it would appear that the earliest that I could receive the items would be on the 2nd October (which is two days after I leave for the trip I have booked in which I planned to use the powerbook in the first place. Things happen, I am not bitter, but they need to get a little more honest, as on the webpage is says in stock, ready to ship, and they clearly are not."
"Ordered my 15" 1.25 GHz powerbook w/superdrive on 9/22 am pst. Changed my order to include a 80 gig 5400rpm HD on 9/22 at 6 pm pst. Received my laptop on 9/25 3 pm pst."
"I placed an order on 9/23/03 at about 10 PM PST. After placing the order, I noticed I forgot to check 2-3 day shipping. The next morning, I called the Apple store and asked them to change my shipping from standard to 2-3 days. They told me it was already 2-3 days. I checked on the status today (9/26/03) and saw that my shipping was changed again to Priority Overnite. Also, my ship on or before is 10/1/03."

PowerBook shipping reports for Friday, September 26th
Friday, September 26 2003 @ 10:29 AM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports continue to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"My 12-inch PowerBook has shipped TODAY!!! So as I posted and after telling me yesterday (9/25 at 5:58PM EST) that Apple 'anticipates shipping your order by October 3, 2003. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.' I got this e-mail this morning (9/26 6:44AM EST): 'The following products shipped on 09/26/2003. Transit time will depend upon whether you have chosen standard or premium freight options. If your order is shipping standard freight, it should arrive within 2 - 5 business days of shipment.'"
"I ordered my 12-inch PowerBook about 10 days before the new ones were announced. I got an upgrade notice and a delay in shipping. I had an 'on or before 9/24' and now I have 'we anticipate shipping" on 10/3'"
"Like many, my order placed on 9/16 was originally scheduled to ship on 9/25 at the latest. However, I received the dreaded delay of 10/3 e-mail yesterday which was extremely frustrating as retail stores had recieved their 12" the same day. I woke up today to see an e-mail from Apple that it has shipped via FedEx Priority Overnite with estimated arrival of 9/30."
"I ordered my 12" PB on 9/15 (knowing it would be upgraded the next day, which it was) and was qouted 9/25 as the ship date. Then yesterday (9/25) i check my order status and it had been changed to 10/3. Now, this morning(9/26), it says that it has already left Taiwan and will be at my door no later than 10:30 AM on the 30th. Woohoo! Thought some of you here might be interested in this."
"I ordered the 15.2" / 1.25GHZ with a single 512MB chip (default on the BTO is two 256MB chips) on 9-16. My original ship date was on or before 9/22/2003 but that has been adjusted twice. The first time it was adjusted to 9/24/2003. Currently my order is "open" with an expected ship date of on or before 9/30/2003. :-("
"Just received an email from the Apple Store (purchased a PB 12" 1Ghz 512 RAM, 60 GB on September 16th) advising the shipping has been delayed. Original shipping date was "on or before September 25th". New shipping date is "October 3.'"
"I ordered a 12" PB G4/Superdrive, minutes after the Apple Online Store 'reopened' on Tuesday morning 9/16 (literally minutes). My original ship on/before date was 9/25. I was notified today that now my order is expected to ship by October 3."
"Hi! I placed the original order the day of the announcement (9/16). I made one change that afternoon (5400 rpm disk), then discovered that the folks at Apple dropped the memory (1GB in one stick) down to (512 MB). I corrected that the next day. The resultant order was PBG4 15.2/1.25GHZ/1024/80/SD/AP/BL/LL Z07E02MPU Delivery listed as On or before 10/30/2003."
"Just as an FYI for your readers, the Apple retail stores will sell Apple hardware at the discounted education or government prices. You just have to bring an ID to the store."

PowerBook shipping reports for Thursday, September 25th
Thursday, September 25 2003 @ 10:17 AM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports continue to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"I placed an order (with Amazon.com) for the 15" 1.25GHz powerbook on 9/22 and I'm still waiting for it to ship even though they list the item in stock and 'usually ships within 24 hours.'"
"BTO 17"PB w/ 1GB-1 Dimm & 80 Gig/5400 rpm on 9/19. Original ship was on or before 9/29. Received Shipment notification today 9/24."
"Hi all, just recieved my Pbook, airborne went from having absolutly no record of it, to having it at my friends backdoor within 6 hours. Anyway, just wanted to alert you to an apparent flaw in the early 15" books. Screen latch. The screen tends to pop up, most likely because the latch isn't catching all the way. I had it happen to me the first time I closed the 'book, but didn't think anything of it at the time. Then later on, I closed it again and had the book pop open, just after I'd walked away from it. I've also noticed that the lid is slightly bowed, or slanted, ie. when closed the lid sits higher on one side than the other. There are threads about this in the apple discussion fourms, just search for lid, or latch...you'll find them in the powerbook discussions...I'm probably off to the Apple store in Boston tomorrow then to return it."
"I went to the downtown San Francisco CompUSA tonight (9/24) to buy a USB bluetooth adapter and saw the 15" Superdrive model on display. After playing with it a few minutes, I saw a rep and asked if they had any to sell. They had one left in stock he said. Naturally i put down the bluetooth adapter and picked up the Apple 15.2" Aluminum blue tooth adapter.. I mean PowerBook. By the way, the amazon.com site does not ship the powerbook within 24 hours.. Once you go through the checkout it is more like an estimated 1-2 weeks (we couldn't duplicate this - Ed). I also talked to MacWarehouse who was estimating delivery of late October (even for those who ordered day of announcement). Thanks for all your effort and time helping everyone find there new alBooks!"
"I ordered the 12" combo/airport extreme card/applecare bundle via phone from MacConnection on 9/24. They said it will be shipping on 9/30."
"I select "2day" shipping and Apple sends me a shipment notification on 9/22...Airborne reports my powerbook is out for delivery in Chicago as of 8:44am CST. The info Airborne express gave me was for the *freight* shipment containing a pallet of powerbooks from Taiwan, not for my individual powerbook. When I looked again at my shipping notice from Apple I noticed a "waybill" number that is actually the tracking number for the freight shipment." Update: "Airborne confirmed delivery in Chicago at 2:57pm CST this afternoon. So 3 days door-to-door from Taiwan isn't so bad. Of course, I live only a couple zip codes away from Apple's distribution center in Chicago, so that probably was a factor. Now I can finally stop obsessing and calling Airborne every few hours! :)"
"I'm also waiting for shipment of a 12" PowerBook. People seem to be blaming Apple and/or Airborne for the customs delays. Hey folks, it's not Apple or the shipper: it's George Bush and Homeland Security that is causing the delay in customs."
Updates:
"I just got off the phone with Apple about my new 12" PowerBook order that was to be shipped on or before 09/24/03. They said I will be getting an email shortly stating that there will be a delay in shipping. She would not tell me how much of a delay. (Well, it's delayed already.)"
"I ordered my Powerbook on Monday (Sep 22) from the Apple Store Germany. They told me, the assembly would take about 2 to 5 days and another 2 to 5 workdays for shipping. I got no "shipping" notification until now (Thursday evening)."
"12" 1 ghz pb's are available today at the chicago apple store... just picked up a combo drive model."
"Apple came through!! I just received my PB 15¾ 1.25 today, exactly as quoted (inc. airborne 2-day shipping). Had a bit of trouble tracking it, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the airborne guy walk through my door this morning. Original updated order placed on Sept. 16th, quoted ship date was on or before the 23rd, and alas, 2 days later itˆs here. Have some faith, people!"
"I custom configured my 15-inch PowerBook 1.25GHz with one 512MB SODIMM and the 80GB 5400rpm drive at around 6PM EST on the day of release. It shipped from Taiwan on 9/22, and Airborne delivered it to me this afternoon (9/25)."
"I just got off the phone with Los Angeles area stores at The Grove and Glendale Galleria; they both have at least a few new 12" models!"
"I just thought that I would let you know that I just received a stock 15" 1.25 GHz AlBook today. This was an educational order. I ordered in the afternoon on the day of the Paris Expo. So it looks like Apple isn't discriminating against the educational market."
"I ordered a 15" 1.25 with 5400rpm drive and a 20GB iPod early on the 16th. I received shipment notifications right on time. Howerver, it is very difficult to track with Airborne (seems like a poor system). PB says "Picked @ shipper's Door" yesterday. Guessing it will be here tomorrow. iPod supposedly left Shanghai on 9/19. No tracking news since on that one, so who knows? It would be nice if Apple mentioned that the 2 Day service starts AFTER it get to the US."
"Apparently, buyers can track the shipment of the pallet of goods using the Waybill number (in the invoice email). This will track shipment overseas and shows customs information. The actual tracking number (in the shipment confirmation email) seems to give shipping details of individual packages once the item arrives in the US and is shipped from the Apple DC to buyers. It seems that 2 Day shipping starts from when it is shipped from the Apple DC."
"Built a 12" PowerBook and ordered on 9/14. Apple automatically upgraded computer to new version and gave "on or about" shipping date of 9/25/03. Now Apple says "on or about 10/03/03."
"As of 4:41pm CST, MacConnection is still reporting Mon., Sept. 30 as the expected date for 12" PB's. Judging by some of the earlier reports today, the 12" may be getting out of customs a little faster than we thought."

The good new is that in one of the e-mails Apple sent there was a "waybill number" that had the right number of digits to be a tracking number for the shipper ... Tried it and it worked! And that's how I know my powerbook is now on its way to me from Taiwan via Chicago right now! Hope this helps any other eager beavers."
"It seems that Apple is not including the time taken to ship from Taiwan to the US in their "2-day" shipping. My order did initially appear on Airborne's site, then when away. When I called them they said that everything was ok but that the powerbook would be stuck in customs for 2-5 days. They added that once it got to the US, it would be shipped Airborne two day shipping to me. It seems Apple is doing some creative accounting on the shipping time here. I can understand being stuck in customs, but clearly time spent in transit from Taiwan to the US should be included. Two day shipping is not two days from Taiwan and then two days to the customer - that's four day shipping! My last Powerbook was shipped from Taiwan to the US by FedEx. It made it in the two days I paid for. Can we go back to FedEx please!"
"Order Date 09/16/2003 06:23 AM PST: 9/23 6:21pm CST - Just got off the phone with Airborne Express. My new Powerbook (BTO 15.2/1.25GHZ/512/80GB@5400RPM) has already cleared customs in Chicago and could be on the truck for delivery in Chicago as early as tomorrow! And I had it lost somewhere over the Pacific... For some reason Airborne had 2 labels for it so their tracking site was generating errors when I tried to check on it. This is great news!"
"For the 12" PB with SuperDrive, CDW is reporting that they expect them in on Oct. 6. MacConnection expects theirs on Sept. 30. Any info on where the 12" are in the channel or on the boat would be great."
"Don't know if you're still looking for PB shipping reports but I ordered two PB 15" from MacConnection on Thursday ( one 1.25GHz and one 1.0GHz) and they arrived on Monday. That surprised the heck out of me. I'm still waiting on the 2.0GHz G5 I ordered in August! :)"
"My wife ordered a top of the line Ti/1 GHz on August 15 from the Apple Store for Education, normal shipping (institutional purchase). She got a replacement Aluminum 15 inch 1.25 GHz today (9/23). It was worth the wait!"
"I ordered a 12" Combo Drive System on Tues September 16th. It was ordered from MacMall. I was told that it would be shipping out on the 26th and that I would see it on Monday the 28th. Just keeping my fingers crossed."

"I am typing this note on Apple's brand new fantastic 15" powerbook through airport(it set itself up in about 10 seconds)! Airborne Express dropped it off today at 3:30. I could not be any happier. Anyone who has waited since January for a new 15" will not be disappointed! MacConnection has come through!"
"Ordered my 15" 1.25 80g Powerbook on Tuesday at about 11 am ET from MacZones. Just got a call from my sales rep telling me that it shipped today (9/22) for delivery tomorrow. My iBook now becomes my wife's iBook!"
"Today at the Apple Store.com, I reconfigured a 1.25MHz with 1GB of RAM, which I ordered over this last weekend, and which wasn't going to ship for 4-6 weeks, to a book with 512 RAM in one slot. It's shipping next monday, 9-29"
"I ordered my 15" 1.25GHz from MacConnection on 9/17 with the free extra 512K RAM and carrying case. I got the RAM and case the next day. The computer arrived one day later on 9/19. Nice! However, the promised $100 mail-in rebate form was nowhere to be found. I called customer service and they said they are waiting for Apple to deliver the proper forms and would email me one next week. I'll be waiting for it."
"My 1.25 GHz, 5400 rpm shipped today (9/23)"
"I got my shipment notification from Apple early yesterday morning. The tracking number they gave me threw up errors on Airborne's tracking site. I called them and they said it had shipped from Taiwan, but they had more than one label for it and the guy couldn't tell where in the world it was right now. He said not to expect a scan stateside until Thursday or Friday this week. So much for "2day" shipping. And I was hoping to have it by Friday... :("

PowerBook shipping reports for Monday, September 22nd
Monday, September 22 2003 @ 9:16 AM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports continue to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"Received my Aluminum 15" Powerbook G4 (1GHz model w/ 512MB upgrade) from MacMall today (9/20). Had ordered on 8/30 and on Tuesday called and had them change my order to the new model (same $$). They got their first batch in on 9/19 and FedEx overnight to me in NJ."
"Hi, I just ordered my 12" Powerbook Last night 1GHz Combo, 256mb, 80gb hard drive without an airport extreme card at the apple education store. My Estimated shipping is October 1st. I hope it comes sooner, I can't wait!"
"I just ordered my 12" with Airport and the 60GB drive last night (9/21) from the Apple edu store...it's showing a ship date of on or before 10/1."
"I stopped in at the King of Prussia Apple store on Wed., to see the new 15". They had some, but hadn't finished uncrating them. I asked if they had any that weren't reserved and the guy said they had one 15" superdrive model up for grabs. After 30 minutes of rationalizing, I walked out of the store with it before they even had their store demo system set up! My impression was that they had gotten 20-30 15" PBs total, in different configs."
"I ordered a PowerBook 12" with extra memory (640MB) the Wednesday before the Paris Expo (yeah, what was I thinking?). On the day of the Expo Apple cancelled my order and placed a new one for me. I'm now getting the updated 12" with 768 MB memory. This was placed through the Education Store. They report that shipping will be on or before Sept 25th."
"On 9/16, I ordered a 15", custom educational powerbook: 80 gig, 1 512mb. Apple says it'll ship on or before Sept. 23."
"I ordered a 12" PB 1GHz (512 RAM, 60G, Combo) from the online Apple Store at 2pm September 16th and have a shipping date of "on or before September 25, 2003". I'll let you know when it arrives."
"Ordered a 15" 1.25GHz 1GB single Ram with 80Mb 5400 ... Tuesday 9 16 4am PST Shipping date 10/29/03. A surprising delay, must be the BTO..."
"I ordered a 15.2/1.25GHz/2GB/80HD 5400/SD/AP Powerbook on Tue. 9/16 at 11am EDT. It is showing a shipping date on or before 10/29/03. I guess the fast hard drive and the extra memory slows down its delivery."
"Ordered a 15" with 5400rpm hard drive and 1 512 ram chip at around 10:00 EST on 9/16/03. Was to ship on or before 9/23 ... And as of this morning 9/22/03 it shipped 2 day delivery! Oh yes!"
Updates:
"I ordered my 15" powerbook on 9/17 - got a notification 9/18 that it shipped Airborne Express - website showed it shipping from IL to NYC, expected deliver 9/22/03 - this info later was replaced with a "call 1-800-AIRBORNE" message. Called today (9/22), was told that it was shipping from "overseas" and had cleared customs on Saturday, that it had not gone through "domestic sort" yet. Now they can't tell me when to expect delivery!"
"I've also gotten the "Call airborne for further details" when attempting to track my powerbook. Originally I was able to see that the product's origin, and then the shipment address. Now I get no info, and Airborne hasn't any info either. Kinda wierd. When I called the 800 number I was told that this shipment wasn't in the system yet, and that it didn't show up as "being anywhere". Anyway, I'm wondering why my powerbook would have shown up as shipping from Chicago, and now others report that their 'books are being held up in port."
"Iˆm a little disappointed with MacConnection. I ordered a 15¾ 1.25 on Friday 9/19 and was told it should ship that night. I selected them based on that and the bundle deal they offered. They called back later that day and said it would actually be mid-next week (this week now) before it shipped, and today (Mon 8/22) when I called to check, the machine is backordered until estimated 8/30. Bait and switch? I hope not, but Iˆm wondering what info others have received from MacConnection."
"I ordered the high end 15" first thing 9/16 and just got an email early this morning saying it had shipped. The original estimate was on or before 9/23. Hasn't shown up on Airborne's tracking system yet, but with 2-day shipping I should have it Wednesday."
"I ordered my 15 inch Superdrive, 80 gig drive, 1 gig ram the morning of the announcement (5:35 a.m. central time) via the Developer Apple Store. Was quoted will ship on or before 9/23. Status as of 9/22 is still open, and no announced delays. Keeping everything crossed!"
"My 15.2", 1.25GHz, 512MB (1 chip), 60GB, Combo Drive (BTO from the Apple Education Store) shipped 9/22 after an original estimated date of "on or before 9/24". Oddly enough, the 20GB iPod I ordered along with it has yet to ship. My original order was 09/17/2003 02:44 AM PST. Thanks a bunch for compiling the shipping report!"

Weekend PowerBook shipping reports
Saturday, September 20 2003 @ 4:05 PM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports continue to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"I ordered my stock PBG4 1.25ghz the morning Jobs announced them in Paris. Just received it yesterday (9/19)! Beautiful and fast!!"
"Don't know if you're interested in educational order status, but anyway... I ordered a 1.25GHZ PB 15" from the Apple store early this morning (Saturday 9/20). It was a non-standard order in that I moved down to the 60GB HD and switched the memory to 1 512MB DIMM. The shipping date given is 'on or before 09/29/2003'."
"I ordered a stock 12.1" Powerbook 1Ghz on Wednesday from the Apple Edu Store online, and I have a ship date of 9/29. Just thought you might like to know."
"I ordered a PB 17" 1.33/512M (1-dimm)/80gig 5400rpm at 9:15am Tuesday. The order was slated to ship 10/19 and is now showing 10/24. I wonder if hard drive availability is an issue?"
"I ordered my 15" 1.25Ghz, Superdrive model right after the announcement in Paris. 5:35am MST. I have received notice from Apple that it shipped. Airborne's online tracking gives NO info. I called Airborne and finally got what seemed like a straight story. They are coming from Taipei and are in customs. However, when apple prints the shipping label it sends the notice through email that it had shipped. They will be released on Monday most likely, and then they will actually ship. Apparently that's when Airborne will have tracking info for us. If you need to waste some time, call Airborne multiple times and laugh at how many different stories you get when you call. WeeHee."

"I ordered two 15" PowerBooks(super drive models) from MacConnection the evening of Paris Expo. This morning, I checked MacConnection's order tracking service which linked to Airborne Express. The new powerbooks were picked up by Airborne Express last night at 10:30pm and are slated to be delivered on Monday 9/22! The only change from the stock configuration was an upgrade to two 512Mb RAM to bring the total RAM to 1 Gb. This will be one long weekend. :-)"

I order from the Apple Education store. Yet my estimated ship date is listed as 9/24 (6 days earlier than a person with the same type of order posted on your website) but unlike his, mine does not appear to have shipped yet!"
"I ordered a 15" with Superdrive on the 16th at 10 a.m. EDT. Only change was 1x512MB instead of 2x256MB. Ship date started as "on or before September 23", and as of this morning, was just "September 23". The wireless keyboard and mouse promised for October 5 got accelerated - they are already out to Airborne for delivery."

First PowerBook shipping reports
Tuesday, September 16 2003 @ 10:45 AM ET | Article Link
PowerBook shipping reports are starting to come in. Send us your report, and we'll include it (anonymously) below:
"I ordered a 1 GHz model powerbook on sept. 9th, expecting shipment on the 16th. Apple just emailed me today (the 16th) and informed me they cancelled that order and replaced it with the new 1.25 GHz model at no additional cost. The expected ship date is on or before the 23rd. I think it will be well worth the extra wait!"
"Hello. Iˆve been waiting for my 15.2¾ 867/Combo since 8/30 and today got word itˆs been upgraded to the new 15¾ 1GHz/Combo! Order Status says itˆs supposed to ship on or before today, but Iˆm not holding my breath. Cheers..."
"I ordered a new PowerBook G4/1.25Ghz this morning at 7:51 from the Apple Store online. My order status page currently states that the order will ship today (9/16). I decided to change the shipping method from standard to 2-3 days, and was told by the customer service rep at Apple that the item would ship today - from Taiwan - and I should expect it Thursday, 9/18 at the latest, (shipping direct from Taiwan is not unusual - my previous PB G4/400 was also ordered the day it was announced and it too shipped from Taiwan). Wish me luck!"
"I placed an order for 15" 1GHz Powerbook in August with MacMall. They have been on backorder since then. I spoke with my rep today and he said that Apple will continue to fill orders that have been already placed for these older books (not upgrading to the 1.25Ghz). They are due in around Sept. 26 and the new 1.25GHz Powerbooks are due in Sept. 30."
"Not quite a shipping report, but I just picked mine up from the Apple store. 15 inch 1.25 Ghz G4. If I had known that CDW would have them so soon ( I called many of the resellers and was told anywhere from 4-5 days to end on the month ) I probably would have ordered there and saved the sales tax. Anyway, got the baby and she sure is pretty!"
"Order was placed Tuesday evening around 5:45 (Eastern time) for a 15" 1.25 GHz PowerBook and the estimated ship date says on or before 9/23. One week seems acceptable for a BTO computer. I can't wait!!"

Now I'm Trying to Get Macs in My Classroom
Monday, September 15 2003 @ 10:06 AM ET | Article Link
by Noah Kravitz
About six weeks ago I wrote about my visit to the CAST Summer Institute in July as part of my preparations for my new job as Technology Coordinator at the Amber Charter School in New York City. The school, I knew, had very little money, a donated mobile lab of PC laptops, and a lot of hardworking, amibitious people who were excited to be bringing a full-time technology person aboard to develop a program for the school. Without any money to fund my decision, I posited a hypothetical question to myself nonetheless: If I had the means to do so, would I bring a fleet of Macs or PCs into my school, and why? Read More...

In the couple of months that I've had my iPod, it's become a pretty indispensible part of my life. I listen to it on the subway while commuting to work. I listen to it at the gym. I listen to it at home through the stereos in the living room and bedroom. What I once thought of as a walkman on steriods I now know to be a truly revolutionary way to collect and listen to music. I had been thinking of purchasing wireless music devices to connect the two stereos in my apartment to my iTunes collection. But when it's so easy to carry my iPod from room to room, why bother?
