PowerBook 190

The 190-series was introduced at the same time as the 5300-series PowerBooks and was marketed as a low-end PowerBook for those whose pockets weren't quite as deep as others. This was the last PowerBook with a 68040 processor running at 33 MHz. The 190 had less RAM than the 5300, no IR transceiver, no video-out port, and no audio-in port. In addition, no active-matrix screen was offered, and the battery was the old standard NiMH type. Nevertheless, it featured a better enhanced trackpad that allowed double-clicking for the first time, and many of the features listed above were available as an option. The processor is upgradable to a PowerPC processor. The 190 is the grayscale version, meaning that it's lighter weight and draws less juice from the battery. Outside of price, those are the only two reasons to select it over the 190cs.
