PowerBook 2400c

The 2400c was the modern interpretation of the Duo. One of the biggest differences between the 2400c and Duo 2300c was that the newer model included most of the standard Mac ports, doing away with the need to plug into a dock when at home. In fact, there was no docking option with the 2400c. The 2400c retained the light weight of the Duos (4.3 lbs.) and added a beautiful Super VGA 10.4 inch active-matrix screen, more RAM, a larger hard drive, and a speedy 180 MHz 603e PowerPC processor. The downside was a small and cramped keyboard that was 87% of standard size. Some folks complained about this, others didn't seem to mind. It would probably be a good idea to try out this keyboard before committing to it. The 10.4 inch screen, while good enough to get the job done with a minimum amount of eyestrain, is really too small when compared with the pervasive 12.1 inch screens available in the lightweight PC world. For those who demand a powerful and versatile lightweight portable, this is the only way to go. The available G3 upgrades made the 2400c a truly fast machine.
